Bach-y-Rita: In Memoriam

We honor the memory and accomplishments of Dr. Paul Bach-y-Rita, professor and former chair of Rehabilitation Medicine in the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Arriving at the University in 1983, Paul will be remembered as a visionary, leader, and unfailing optimist in the field of neuroscience. Concepts of brain function and recovery from injury that he proposed decades ago are only now becoming appreciated. He never asked “why,” but rather assumed “why not?” It will likely be decades before we fully appreciate and implement the ideas born from Paul’s fertile mind. He will be greatly missed.
